Update on my ward.
Hello, a much needed and very welcome new playground has been installed in Goldings in my ward.
However there is no pedestrian crossing across Goldings which is a fast road and people are expected to use an underpass to reach it but it is frequented by drug users and attracts groups of anti social youth so people and especially children are running across Goldings and someone is going to get run over. I've emailed the police to find out if the underpass is part of one of their regular patrols and also does it have CCTV surveillance?
Not only that but also the underpass is blighted with litter which prevents disabled people using it - I've been emailed as well by a resident who is blind and cannot use the underpass because of these issues and if she wanted to use the underpass to reach the shops she would have to take a ten minute diversion to do so.
The pedestrian crossing therefore must also be sited correctly so that the small parade of shops can be accessed I don't know if this is county or borough (currently investigating). If county I wouldn't be informed of any proposal for a crossing or where it would be sited so my hands are tied in that respect unfortunately.
