St Edmunds should be Compulsorily Purchased by the Borough

A recent meeting of the PEMBA Residents Association agreed that enough is enough now with the St Edmund's Hospital Site. It is time the Borough took it on for development with a CPO.

The reasons for this are:-

The site has been derelict for too long

The site is deteorating day by day

The site is an eyesore and blot on the landscape in a residential area

The inside of the buildings and the outside perimeter represents a major health and safety risk

The Borough has to bear the cost of the maintenance of the buildings and the security of the site

The site is being used by homeless, possibly criminalised gangs, and the detritus of drug use and human excrement are present in the buildings

The planning application has been delayed for one reason and then another

The developers show no sign of wanting to develop the site

The people of the town deserve better.
