George Nutt Close

When we were in George Nutt Court I remember talking with a couple of residents who said, 'they've put us here, forgotten about us and left us to die'. Tory cuts meant that the residents of the small older/vulnerable person housing development at George Nutt Court - which is a development of bungalows - no longer had a Warden, care, or a community centre - that the residents once enjoyed.

I was determined that the Community Room must open and activities be offered to the isolated residents. I purchased the new chairs with my community empowerment fund, the new curtains will be installed soon. The community room is now open, I hold a coffee morning every Monday with coffee, cake and chat. The community no longer feel isolated. We all have so much fun meeting each week, chatting and playing games. The residents feel happy to contact me with any issues and We are all looking forward to our Christmas meal together at the community room. I'm cooking so I'm not sure it will be a positive yet!!

I believe this proves Labour can make a difference, no matter how big or small.
