A busy week in Northampton Town

The Cobblers.

The week started well with a special meeting called by the Labour Group calling for solidarity with Northampton Town Football Club, the players and the supporters.  We know we need to get the money back. £10.5 million of public funds has gone missing. We need to know where it is! We need answers to the many questions about how did we get here? Above all we want our football club recognised as the asset that it is for the town. Many thanks to all the supporters that packed the Guildhall.

The Living Wage

The Full Council saw another historic win for the Labour Group. We had already argued and won the case for Northampton Borough Council to be a Living Wage Authority. On Monday the council passed a motion for Northampton Borough Council to extend the Living Wage to all sub-contracted work and to apply for accreditation with the Living Wage Foundation. Crucially, the council accepted the Foundations definition of the Living Wage! We aim to become a high wage town lifting people out of poverty and creating better life chances for all.
